Vicente Carducho's Dialogos de la pintura, a defense and theory of painting written by the court painter in dialogue form and printed in Madrid by Francisco Martinez in 1633. The index holds its letterpress ornaments: woodcut tailpieces of urns spilling flowers, masks with staring faces, plumed heads flanked by cornucopias and pendant drops, usable as small printer's flowers and section breaks.
