Posthumous collection of antiquarian and historical discourses by the Florentine scholar Vincenzio Borghini, printed by the Giunti press in Florence in 1584 for readers of church history, heraldry and Italian coinage. The woodcut initials show figures in landscapes, seated musicians and putti inside roundels, plus foliate letters with a child's head, all cut in coarse hatching on small square blocks.
