Félibien's dialogues on the lives and works of ancient and modern painters, printed in Paris in 1666 by Pierre Le Petit for court readers and members of the new Académie. The plates are printer's ornaments: engraved headbands with winged putti flanking a crowned royal cipher, initials built around serpents, rams' skulls and a caduceus, and woodcut tailpieces of massed fruit and foliage.
