Histoire de l'art chez les anciens
Winckelmann's history of ancient art in Hendrik Jansen's Paris edition of 1793, translated by Michel Huber with material from Anton Raphael Mengs, made for antiquarians, collectors and artists studying Greek, Roman and Egyptian sculpture. The plates are outline-and-hatch copperplate engravings of standing statues, portrait busts and sarcophagus reliefs, isolated on blank grounds with plate numbers, useful for clean figure silhouettes, drapery patterns and crowded relief friezes.
