Histoire de l'art de l'antiquité
Michel Huber's 1781 French translation of Winckelmann's history of ancient art, printed at Leipzig by Breitkopf with engraved plates and vignettes after Adam Friedrich Oeser, addressed to antiquarians, collectors and artists. The engravings copy gems, coins and reliefs as round and oval medallions: a bearded Jupiter profile, women at a domed altar, a nude youth with caduceus and Greek lettering, reclining banqueters with a winged Eros, plus rope-and-drapery framing devices.
