Johann Winkelmanns Geschichte der Kunst des Alterthums
Johann Joachim Winckelmann's history of ancient Greek and Roman art, issued in Vienna in 1776 by the Akademischer Verlag under Trattner's press for scholars and collectors of antiquity. The scanned pages here are mostly blank flyleaves and endpapers showing laid paper texture, foxing specks, marbled edge papers and frayed board covering, with one leaf where a small typographic ornament and letterpress text show through the sheet — useful as paper grounds, edge treatments and faint show-through overlays.
