A four-volume English encyclopaedia of arts and sciences compiled by a "Society of Gentlemen" and printed for W. Owen in London in 1763, with plates engraved by Thomas Jefferys, Charles Grignion and Samuel Wale for general readers and tradesmen. The copperplates are labelled technical diagrams: theodolites and telescopes on tripods, geometric solids, scales, gunnery sections and astronomical projections, useful as fine-line instrument silhouettes and figure-keyed schematics.
