Oud-Nederlandsche steden in haar ontstaan, groei en ontwikkeling
A two-volume Dutch survey of the origins, growth and development of old Netherlandish towns, written by historian Hajo Brugmans and government architect C. H. Peters and published by A. W. Sijthoff in Leiden in 1909 for readers of architectural and urban history. The plates mix reproduced seventeenth- and eighteenth-century engravings of market squares, quays and city gates with modern measured line drawings of gabled house fronts, giving designers crowded street perspectives, stepped and scrolled gable profiles, brickwork and window patterning, and sketchy tonal townscapes.
