A print portfolio of three hundred heads and compositional subjects etched by the antiquarian Comte de Caylus after engraved gems in the French royal cabinet, issued in Paris by François Basan in 1775 for collectors, draughtsmen and drawing students. The plates are outline etchings of profile heads in oval frames, laurelled, helmeted or veiled, with fine hatching designers can enlarge as medallions, monograms or roundel borders.
