A treatise by the etcher Abraham Bosse, published at his own address in Paris in 1649, on telling apart the manners of painting, drawing and engraving and originals from copies, addressed to artists, collectors and connoisseurs. The etched plates lay construction lines, axes and lettered points over a drawn head and over one-point perspective room interiors; alongside them sit a rocaille cartouche framing three fish and a woodcut device of crossed cornucopias with a caduceus.
