The 98 plates are coarse-screen halftones of the collection's holdings: Raphael's full cartoon for the School of Athens and details of its groups of philosophers, old master drawings, carved relief panels, and interior views, all with heavy grain and low contrast that suit high-contrast reworking, silhouetting of figure groups, or texture overlays.
