Guide artistique & historique au Palais de Fontainebleau

Pfnor, Rodolphe, 1824-1909, France, Anatole, 1844-1924 · 1889 · Paris : André, Daly · 58 pictures

An artistic and historical guidebook to the Château de Fontainebleau, illustrated by architect-draughtsman Rodolphe Pfnor with text by Anatole France, published in Paris by André, Daly in 1889 for visitors and students of French architecture. The plates are fine line engravings of gallery interiors in perspective, coffered and painted ceilings, chimneypieces, and close studies of carved caryatids, cartouches, crowned monograms and foliate panels — usable as Renaissance ornament reference, frame motifs and architectural backdrops.
