Guide to the Peabody museum
A 1916 visitor's guide to the Peabody Museum of Salem, printed locally by Newcomb & Gauss for museum-goers touring its maritime and ethnographic collections. Halftone plates reproduce ship models, rigged hulls photographed against blank grounds, and older harbor views and naval engagements, giving designers cut-out sailing vessels, mast and rigging line work, and small waterfront figure groups.
