Handbook for architects and builders
A trade handbook issued by the Illinois Society of Architects in Chicago in 1898, compiling construction data and manufacturers' equipment listings for practicing architects and builders. The plates are engraved cutaway views of furnaces, boilers and heating apparatus, with brickwork, fire pots, flues and airflow arrows labelled in small caps; useful for hatched masonry textures, sectioned machinery and industrial lettering.
