A handbook of Greek lace making
An instructional handbook on Greek needlepoint lace (reticella and cutwork) by Julia Herschel, printed in London by R. Barrett & Sons in 1870 for needleworkers copying historic lace patterns. The plates are cyanotype-style prints in which white thread structures stand out against deep blue grounds: gridded reticella squares, scalloped borders with fan and wheel motifs, sampler strips of repeating geometric fillings, and radiating star medallions usable as line ornament, pattern tiles, or border rules.
