Handbuch der Spitzenkunde, Technisches und Geschichtliches über die Näh-, Klöppel- und Maschinenspitzen
A German technical and historical handbook of lace by Tina Frauberger, published by E.A. Seemann in Leipzig in 1894 for lacemakers, collectors and museum students of needle, bobbin and machine lace. Halftone photographs show lace specimens shot flat against black grounds, so pale thread patterns read as high-contrast white line work: scalloped borders, medallion grids, scrolling floral bands and lettered insertions.
