Handicraft for girls; a tentative course in needlework, basketry, designing, paper and cardboard construction, textile fibers and fabrics and home decoration and care, designed for use in schools and homes
A school manual of needlework, basketry, paper and cardboard construction, and textile study, written by Idabelle McGlauflin and issued by the Manual Arts Press in Peoria, Illinois, in 1910 for girls' classes and home instruction. Halftone photographs show stitch samplers worked in white thread on dark cloth, folded paper shapes against black grounds, and children's garments and hemmed panels laid flat, giving designers high-contrast line-and-dot motifs, geometric fold diagrams, and plain studies of cloth and pattern pieces.
