Hand-loom weaving; a manual for school and home
A 1902 instructional manual by Mattie Phipps Todd, published by Rand, McNally in Chicago, teaching hand-loom weaving to schoolchildren and home learners. Halftone photographs show finished mats, rugs and scarves in flat frontal view: striped borders, checkerboard basket weaves, knotted fringes and macramé ends, printed as high-contrast dark masses against pale grounds, useful as textile textures, repeat patterns and border motifs.
