The Herald and genealogist
A Victorian antiquarian serial on heraldry and family history, edited by John Gough Nichols and issued in London by John Bowyer Nichols and Sons in 1866 for genealogists, armorists and record scholars. The wood-engraved cuts show coats of arms, crested helms with mantling, quartered shields, coroneted seals and bookplate-style ovals, drawn in hard black line with hatched shading that suits reuse as monograms, emblems and crest ornament.
