The Herald and genealogist
A British antiquarian periodical on heraldry and family history, edited by John Gough Nichols and issued in London from 1863 onward for genealogists, antiquaries and armorial researchers. Wood-engraved line cuts reproduce medieval seals with Lombardic legends, shields with charges and mantled crests, and rows of heater-shaped escutcheons, supplying ready silhouettes, circular border lettering and foliate mantling for badges and monograms.
