The Herald and genealogist
A Victorian scholarly serial on heraldry and family history, edited by John Gough Nichols and issued in London by John Bowyer Nichols and Sons in 1870 for antiquaries and genealogists. Line engravings and woodcuts show shields, quartered coats, seals, lozenges and carved panels, with hatching used for tinctures and abbreviations lettered in; useful for crests, beasts, and shield outlines.
