The Herald and genealogist
A Victorian heraldic and genealogical journal edited by John Gough Nichols and issued in London by John Bowyer Nichols and Sons in 1874, written for antiquaries, genealogists and armorial researchers. The cuts are small line-engraved shields and seals showing quartered arms, crosses, chevrons, eagles, dragons, lions and mullets, some hatched for tincture or lettered with abbreviations, and supply ready-made crisp black-and-white emblems, seal outlines and shield shapes.
