A two-volume scholarly treatise on Scottish armory by J. H. Stevenson, revising George Seton's earlier legal handbook, published in Glasgow by James MacLehose in 1914 for antiquaries, lawyers and officers of arms. Plates reproduce medieval seal impressions, wax matrices and line-drawn shields: helms, mantling, rampant lions, fleurs-de-lis, mullets, and circular Latin inscriptions usable as borders or badge forms.
