The heraldry of the Johnstons : with notes on the different families, their arms and pedigrees
A family heraldry manual by G. Harvey Johnston, printed in Edinburgh and London by W. & A.K. Johnston in 1905 for genealogists and armorists tracing the Johnston name. The plates are single shields shown three ways—flat colour lithographs in red, gold, black and white; black-and-white line versions with hatched shading; and tinted monochrome studies—carrying saltires, chiefs, cushions, mullets and roses that can be lifted as clean silhouettes, crest motifs or two-colour badge shapes.
