An English treatise on prolonging life and old-age vigour, adapted by John Campbell from Johann Heinrich Cohausen's Latin text and printed for J. Nourse in London in 1744 for readers of medicine and occult learning. The plates here are letterpress ornaments: woodcut headpiece bands of acanthus scrollwork flanking flower-filled urns, a rayed dove, crowned eagles, a grinning mask tailpiece, and a factotum initial held by winged putti — usable as borders, rules and drop-cap frames.
