Heroes of invention and discovery : lives of eminent inventors and pioneers in science
A collective biography of inventors and men of science, compiled by Robert Cochrane and published by W.P. Nimmo in Edinburgh in 1897 for general and young readers. The illustration is a chest-up portrait drawn in soft crayon or stipple shading, high collar and dark coat against a blank ground, useful as a stock likeness, a vignette head, or a source of tonal hatching technique.
