An eighteenth-century German alchemical and kabbalistic treatise by Georg von Welling on salt, sulphur and mercury, issued at Frankfurt and Leipzig in 1760 for readers of theosophical and hermetic literature. The copperplates are line-engraved cosmological diagrams: nested concentric rings, intersecting circles, inscribed pentagrams and hexagrams, and German and Hebrew captions labelling spheres and emanations, useful as geometric schematics and occult lettering.
