A Latin treatise on magic, witchcraft and superstition by the Jesuit Martin Delrio, printed at Lyon by Jean Pillehotte in 1608 for theologians, lawyers and physicians. The pictures here are woodcut headpiece bands: horizontal strips of scrolling acanthus and vine, symmetrical about a central palmette, with grotesque leaf-forms at the ends, usable as rules, section dividers or repeating border stock.
