A posthumous Latin treatise on divination and magic by Jean-Jacques Boissard of Besançon, published at Oppenheim in 1611 with engravings by Johann Theodor de Bry after the author's drawings, addressed to learned readers of classical oracles and occult lore. Each plate is a framed full-length figure of a sibyl, prophet or oracular god standing beside an inscribed altar under swags of drapery and foliage, with Latin captions above and below: usable as costumed allegorical figures, cartouche-style inscription panels, garland and tassel borders, and small emblems of flame, snakes and masks.
