Hippu zukai : gunshi no maki
A Japanese manuscript treatise on military method and castle engineering compiled by Arisawa Takesada in 1716, made for samurai students of fortification and troop deployment. Hand-drawn pages in ink with pale washes show fortress wall profiles in flat black silhouette, orange-block town plans beside a river and sea, loophole and parapet details, and a tiled corridor bridge, with vertical brush annotations and red circular headers usable as diagram vocabulary, muted palettes, and plan-view pattern.
