Winckelmann's history of ancient art, translated into French and published in Amsterdam by E. van Harrevelt in 1766 for antiquarians and collectors. Line engravings copy Greek and Roman gems, statues and reliefs: nude figures in oval medallion frames, a sphinx beside a Corinthian pilaster and krater, hatched borders and vignette plates usable as spot ornaments or figure studies.
