Histoire de l'art de l'antiquité
Michel Huber's French edition of Winckelmann's history of ancient art, printed at Leipzig in 1781 by Breitkopf with plates after Adam Friedrich Oeser, addressed to antiquarians, collectors and artists studying Greek and Roman sculpture. The engravings reproduce carved gems, reliefs and statues as oval and rectangular vignettes of draped figures, winged genii, altar sacrifices and temple facades, offering clean outline-and-hatching figure studies, classical drapery, and ready-made cartouche shapes.
