A French translation by Michel Huber of Winckelmann's history of ancient art, printed at Leipzig in 1781 by Johann Gottlob Immanuel Breitkopf with plates after drawings by Adam Friedrich Oeser, aimed at antiquarians, collectors and artists. The engravings copy Greek and Roman reliefs, vases and gems in fine outline with close parallel hatching: draped figure groups, nude heroes with spears and clubs, rocky grounds and framed relief borders usable as vignettes, ornament and figure stock.
