Histoire de l'art du Japon;
A survey of Japanese art history compiled by Japan's imperial commission for the 1900 Paris Exposition, published in Paris by M. de Brunoff with French text for European visitors, collectors and scholars. The plates are halftone photographs of handscrolls, Buddhist hanging scrolls, screens, sculpture and lacquer, offering scroll compositions read in long horizontal strips, mandala roundels, haloed seated deities, and processions of small figures against blank ground.
