Jules Labarte's multi-volume history of medieval and Renaissance decorative arts, issued in Paris by Ve A. Morel & Cie in 1872 for collectors, museum curators and craftsmen. Chromolithographed plates copy stained glass, illuminated manuscript miniatures, enamels and goldsmiths' work, alongside photographic views of carved ivory panels, giving flat areas of red, gold and blue with heavy outlines and dense borders.
