Histoire de Sienne
A French edition of Robert Langton Douglas's history of Siena, published by Librairie Renouard in Paris in 1914 for readers of Italian art and civic history. Halftone photographs, several from the Alinari studio, show brick church fronts, arcaded loggias, pedimented doorways, narrow shaded streets and fresco panels with framed borders — useful for Tuscan architectural detail and worn grey tonal texture.
