A French translation by Marc-Antoine Eidous of Daniel Defoe's history of discoveries in the arts, sciences, commerce and navigation, printed at Lyon by Benoît Duplain in 1767 for general readers, and once owned by John Adams. The pictures are small letterpress ornaments built from cast flowers and scrollwork: flower-basket bouquets, urns on brackets, canopies with hanging tassels, and symmetrical headpiece clusters usable as spot ornaments, dividers or chapter openers.
