Histoire des vestales : avec un traité du luxe des dames romaines
Augustin Nadal's study of the Vestal virgins and Roman women's dress, printed in Paris in 1725 by the widow of Pierre Ribou for readers of antiquarian and moral history. The plates are typographic ornament rather than illustration: foliate headpiece bands, a heart-shaped tailpiece of scrolling leaves, and a hatched initial M, usable as rules, drop caps and spot devices.
