Vladimir Stasov's 1898 St Petersburg account of how the deluxe folio on the Zvenigorodskoy collection of Byzantine enamels was designed, printed and bound, issued for collectors, bibliophiles and the presses that produced it. Plates array binding materials, stamped leather covers, moiré and woven cloths, tooled metalwork panels and sample swatches, while the text carries outline drawn initials of foliate Byzantine scrollwork usable as letterforms, borders and pattern fills.
