Histoire d'un hôtel de ville et d'une cathédrale;
Eugène-Emmanuel Viollet-le-Duc's illustrated narrative on how a medieval town hall and cathedral were built, written for young French readers and published by Hetzel in Paris in 1878. The author's own line drawings combine street-level perspective views of Gothic facades, apses and gabled civic porches with cutaway sections and plans, drawn in fine even hatching with small figures for scale.
