Histoire du roy Louis le Grand, par les medailles, emblêmes, deuises, jettons, inscriptions, armoiries, et autres monumens publics
A numismatic history of Louis XIV's reign compiled by the Jesuit heraldist Claude-François Menestrier with engravings by Jean-Baptiste Nolin, published in 1691 under a Paris imprint but actually printed in Amsterdam, for court readers and antiquarians. The plates are line-engraved medal faces in ruled circles, each holding allegorical figures, winged victories, trophies of cannon and armor, and Latin legends running around the rim above a dated caption, useful as roundel frames, emblem devices, and classical lettering models.
