Histoire generale d'Espagne, du P. Jean de Mariana de la Compagnie de Jesus.
A French translation of Juan de Mariana's history of Spain, first written in Latin in the late sixteenth century, issued at Paris in 1725 by the booksellers Le Mercier, Lottin, Josse and Briasson for scholarly and gentleman readers. The plates here are letterpress woodcut headpieces and tailpieces: symmetrical acanthus scrolls flanking an urn, fruit basket or candlestick, printed in coarse black line on laid paper, useful as chapter dividers, panel borders and page furniture.
