Histoire metallique de la republique de Hollande.
Pierre Bizot's medallic history of the Dutch Republic, engraved and published in Amsterdam by Pierre Mortier in 1688 for collectors, heralds and readers of state history. The plates pair medal obverses and reverses as line-engraved roundels, with Latin legends running around the rim and interiors filled with crowned arms, lions, a phoenix on a globe, a fist gripping arrows, clasped hands and radiant suns — ready-made circular emblems, borders and seal forms.
