A Greek-language edition of Barclay V. Head's handbook of ancient Greek coinage, translated and annotated by Ioannis N. Svoronos and printed in Athens in 1898 for scholars, museum staff and collectors. The plates are halftone photographs of coins laid out in grids of circles, obverse portraits and helmeted heads paired with reverse owls, eagles, chariots, swans and incuse squares, captioned by region in Greek capitals — a ready supply of circular medallion motifs, profile heads and small animal emblems.
