The historic gallery of portraits and paintings; or, Biographical review:
A multi-volume English biographical compendium issued in London by Vernor, Hood, and Sharpe from 1807, pairing short lives of rulers, soldiers, and artists with engraved portraits for general readers and collectors. The plates are outline engravings in fine line, mostly bust and half-length figures in ruled frames with lettered name tablets below, plus copies after paintings; useful for sparse linear portrait heads, armour and drapery hatching, and ready-made frame-and-caption layouts.
