A German translation of Giovanni Lodovico Bianconi's eulogy for the painter Anton Raphael Mengs, with a catalogue of his works, printed in Zürich by Johann Caspar Füessli in 1781 for art collectors and connoisseurs. The illustrations are small letterpress woodcuts used as headpieces and rules: blossoming branches tied over ruled lines, a rose laid across a knotted stem, and a rustic vignette of a thatched cottage among trees, all useful as dividers and spot ornaments at small sizes.
