The history and antiquities of the conventual and cathedral church of Ely : from the foundation of the monastery, A.D. 673 to the year 1771 : illustrated with copper-plates
An antiquarian history of Ely Cathedral written by James Bentham and printed at the Cambridge university press in 1771, with copperplates by Peter Spendelowe Lamborn, John Theodore Heins and François Vivares, made for subscribers and antiquaries. The engravings combine measured plans and sections, elevations of the church in open landscape, and close studies of Romanesque doorways, carved capitals and canopied saints, offering ornament borders, arch profiles and dedication cartouches to lift.
