History of ancient pottery, Greek, Etruscan, and Roman
A two-volume scholarly handbook of Greek, Etruscan, and Roman ceramics by British Museum keeper H. B. Walters, rewritten from Samuel Birch's earlier work and published by John Murray in London in 1905 for archaeologists, museum curators, and collectors. Line engravings of vessel profiles with incised geometric bands sit alongside halftone photographs of painted kraters and cups and unrolled drawings of figure friezes, supplying pot silhouettes, meander and palmette borders, and classical figure groups for repeat patterns and ornament.
