History of ancient pottery: Greek, Etruscan, and Roman
A two-volume scholarly survey of Greek, Etruscan, and Roman ceramics by British Museum keeper H. B. Walters, revising Samuel Birch's earlier work, published by Scribner in New York in 1905 for collectors, museum staff, and students of classical art. Halftone plates photograph whole vases against plain grounds, with black-figure chariots, animal friezes, palmette and meander bands, and silhouetted vessel profiles usable as shapes or ornament strips.
