History of the Bassandyne Bible, the first printed in Scotland with notices of the early printers of Edinburgh
A printing-history monograph by William T. Dobson, published in Edinburgh by William Blackwood & Sons in 1887, tracing Thomas Bassandyne's 1576–79 Scottish Bible and the city's early printers for antiquarians and bibliophiles. Reproduced sixteenth-century woodcuts show a hand-press shop with pressman and compositor, a bookbinder's workroom hung with tools, and biblical scenes such as the crossing of the Red Sea and Noah's ark with keyed lettering, all usable as coarse-line black-and-white trade imagery.
